Tu che Forza ed AmorA

-
O Thou who mingling Force and Love dost drawB
And guide the complex of all entitiesC
Framed for that purpose whence our reason seesC
In supreme Fate the synthesis of LawB
Though prayers transgress which find defect or flawB
In things foredoomed by Thy divine decreesC
Yet wilt Thou modify by slow degreesC
Or swift good times or bad Thy mind foresawB
I therefore pray I who through years have beenD
The scorn of fools the butt of impious menE
Suffering new pains and torments day by dayF
Shorten this anguish Lord these griefs allayF
For still Thou shalt not have changed counsel whenE
I soar from hence to liberty foreseenG
