The Sonnets Of Tommaso Campanella - An Exhortation To Mankind Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BAABBAABCDCEDE

Abitator del mondoA
-
-
Ye dwellers on this world to the first MindB
Exalt your eyes and ye shall see how lowA
Vile Tyranny wearing the glorious showA
Of nobleness and worth keeps you confinedB
Then look at proud Hypocrisy entwinedB
With lies and snares who once taught men to knowA
The fear of God Next to the Sophists goA
Traitors to thought and reason jugglers blindB
Keen Socrates to quell the Sophists cameC
To quell the Tyrants Cato just and roughD
To quell the Hypocrites Christ heaven's own flameC
But to unmask fraud sacrilege and liesE
Or boldly rush on death is not enoughD
Unless we all taste God made inly wiseE

Michelangelo Di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni
