The Defence Of Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBBCCBDEFDEF

O nott' o dolce tempoA
-
-
O night O sweet though sombre span of timeB
All things find rest upon their journey's endC
Whoso hath praised thee well doth apprehendC
And whoso honours thee hath wisdom's primeB
Our cares thou canst to quietude sublimeB
For dews and darkness are of peace the friendC
Often by thee in dreams upborne I wendC
From earth to heaven where yet I hope to climbB
Thou shade of Death through whom the soul at lengthD
Shuns pain and sadness hostile to the heartE
Whom mourners find their last and sure reliefF
Thou dost restore our suffering flesh to strengthD
Driest our tears assuagest every smartE
Purging the spirits of the pure from griefF
