The Death Of Christ Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBBCCBDEADAE

Non fur men lietiA
-
-
Not less elate than smitten with wild woeB
To see not them but Thee by death undoneC
Were those blest souls when Thou above the sunC
Didst raise by dying men that lay so lowB
Elate since freedom from all ills that flowB
From their first fault for Adam's race was wonC
Sore smitten since in torment fierce God's sonC
Served servants on the cruel cross belowB
Heaven showed she knew Thee who Thou wert and whenceD
Veiling her eyes above the riven earthE
The mountains trembled and the seas were troubledA
He took the Fathers from hell's darkness denseD
The torments of the damn d fiends redoubledA
Man only joyed who gained baptismal birthE
