Now that these wings to speed my wish ascendA
The more I feel vast air beneath my feetA
The more toward boundless air on pinions fleetA
Spurning the earth soaring to heaven I tendA
Nor makes them stoop their flight the direful endA
Of Daedal's son but upward still they beatA
What life the while with my life can competeA
Though dead to earth at last I shall descendA
My own heart's voice in the void air I hearB
Where wilt thou bear me O rash man RecallC
Thy daring will This boldness waits on fearD
Dread not I answer that tremendous fallC
Strike through the clouds and smile when death is nearD
If death so glorious be our doom at allC
