Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD ECFCGHIH

France tells the story make our hearts know wellA
Christ His Figure stands against the gates of hellA
Flame and shot may rive the fortress walls apartB
Christ the Crucified will heal the breaking heartB
-
Wear Him day and night wherever be the warC
God save us evermore from Mars and ThorC
Flag and heart that keep Him fear not shot and flameD
Strengthen Jesu all who stand calling Thy nameD
-
-
-
Ye who guard a nation's callE
And speed to arms thereforC
Ye who pray for brave lads goneF
To perils of the warC
Soldiers of the fleet and fortG
And mothers of our menH
In the shadow of the CrossI
Shall we find peace againH
