A Plagued Journey Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIHJHKLLAMNOP DQROSTUP OVSWODWXVOYSZOO

There is no warning rattle at the doorA
nor heavy feet to stomp the foyer boardsB
Safe in the dark prison I know thatC
light slides overD
the fingered work of a toothlessE
woman in PakistanF
Happy prints ofG
an invisible time are illuminedH
My mouth agapeI
rejects the solid air andH
lungs hold The invader takesJ
direction andH
seeps through the plaster wallsK
It is at my chamber enteringL
the keyhole pushingL
through the padding of the doorA
I cannot scream A boneM
of fear clogs my throatN
It is upon me It isO
sunrise with HopeP
its arrogant riderD
My mind formerly quiescentQ
in its snug encasement is strainedR
to look upon their rapturous visagesO
to let them enter even into meS
I am forcedT
outside myself toU
mount the light and ride joined with HopeP
-
Through all the bright hoursO
I cling to expectation untilV
darkness comes to reclaim meS
as its own Hope fades day is goneW
into its irredeemable placeO
and I am thrown back into the familiarD
bonds of disconsolationW
Gloom crawls aroundX
lapping lasciviouslyV
between my toes at my anklesO
and it sucks the strands of myY
hair It forgives my headyS
fling with Hope I amZ
joined again into itsO
greedy armsO
