What does love look like We knowA
the shape of death Death is a cloudB
immense and awesome At first a lidC
is lifted from the eye of lightD
there is a clap of sound a white blossomE
-
belches from the jaw of frightD
a pillared cloud churns from white to grayF
like a monstrous brain that bursts and burnsG
then turns sickly black spilling awayF
filling the whole sky with ashes of dreadH
-
thickly it wraps between the clean seaI
and the moon the earth's green headH
Trapped in its cocoon its choking breathJ
we know the shape of deathJ
Death is a cloudB
-
What does love look likeK
Is it a particle a starL
invisible entirely beyond the microscope and PalomarL
A dimension unimagined past the length of hopeM
Is it a climate far and fair that we shall never dareN
-
discover What is its color and its alchemyI
Is it a jewel in the earth can it be dugO
Or dredged from the sea Can it be boughtP
Can it be sown and harvestedQ
Is it a shy beast to be caughtP
-
Death is a cloudB
immense a clap of soundR
Love is little and not loudB
It nests within each cell and itS
cannot be splitS
-
It is a ray a seed a note a wordT
a secret motion of our air and bloodQ
It is not alien it is nearU
our very skinV
a sheath to keep us pure of fearU
