Fruit without a stone its shinyA
pulp is clear green Inside tinyA
black microdot seeds SkinB
the color of khakiImagineB
a shaggy brown green peltC
that feels like feltC
It's oval full rounded kindD
of egg shaped The rindD
comes off in stripsE
when peeled with the lipsE
If ripe full of juiceF
melon sweet yet tart as gooseF
berry almost A translucent ringG
of seed dots looks somethingG
like a coin slice of banana GrownB
in the tropics some stoneB
fruits overlarge are queerlyH
formed A slablike pit nearlyH
fills the mango II
scrape the fibrous pulp off with myI
teeth That slick round ballH
in avocado fruit without juice we callH
alligator pearJ
Plant this seedpit with careJ
on three toothpicks over a glassK
of water It can come to passK
in time that you'll seeH
an entire avocado treeH
Some fruits have stones some seedsL
Papaya's loaded with slimy black beadsL
Some seem seedlesslike quinceM
that makes your tastebuds winceM
Persimmon willH
be sour astringent 'untilH
dead ripe ' they say BehindD
pomegranate's leathery rindD
is a sackful of moist rubies PearJ
cantaloupe grapefruit guava keep theirJ
seeds hidden as do raspberry strawberryH
pineapple Plum peach and cherryH
we know as fruits with bigN
seedstones And figN
Its graininess is seed Hard to believeO
is prickly durian It's custardP
sweetand smells nastyH
But there's no fruit as tastyH
as odd or as funnyH
noneB
as fresh off the vine New ZeaH
