Sometime Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKLKL MNMOPFPF QRQRSTSTSometime when all life's lessons have been learned | A |
And sun and stars forevermore have set | B |
The things which our weak judgements here have spurned | A |
The things so'er which we grieved with lashes wet | B |
Will flash before us out of life's dark night | C |
As stars shine most in deeper tints of blue | D |
And we shall see how all God's plans are right | C |
And how what seemed reproof was love most true | D |
- | |
And we shall see how while we frown and sigh | E |
God's plans go on as best for you and me | F |
How when we called He heeded not our cry | E |
Because His wisdom to the end could see | F |
And e'en as prudent parents disallow | G |
Too much of sweet to craving babyhood | H |
So God perhaps is keeping from us now | G |
Life's sweetest things because it seemeth good | H |
- | |
And if sometimes commingled with life's wine | I |
We find the wormwood and rebel and shrink | J |
Be sure a wiser hand than yours or mine | I |
Pours out the potion for our lips to drink | J |
And if some friend you love is lying low | K |
Where human kisses cannot reach his face | L |
Oh do not blame the loving Father so | K |
But wear your sorrow with obedient grace | L |
- | |
And you shall shortly know that lengthened breath | M |
Is not the sweetest gift God sends His friends | N |
And that sometimes the sable pull of death | M |
Conceals the fairest boon His love can send | O |
If we could push ajar the gates of life | P |
And stand within and all God's workings see | F |
We could interpret all this doubt and strife | P |
And for each mystery could find a key | F |
- | |
But not today Then be content poor heart | Q |
God's plans like lilies pure and white unfold | R |
We must not tear the close shut leaves apart | Q |
Time will reveal the chalices of gold | R |
And if through patient toil we reach the land | S |
Where tired feet with sandals loosed may rest | T |
When we shall clearly see and understand | S |
I think we will say God knew the best | T |
