Sometime Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Sometime when all life's lessons have been learnedA
And sun and stars forevermore have setB
The things which our weak judgements here have spurnedA
The things so'er which we grieved with lashes wetB
Will flash before us out of life's dark nightC
As stars shine most in deeper tints of blueD
And we shall see how all God's plans are rightC
And how what seemed reproof was love most trueD
-
And we shall see how while we frown and sighE
God's plans go on as best for you and meF
How when we called He heeded not our cryE
Because His wisdom to the end could seeF
And e'en as prudent parents disallowG
Too much of sweet to craving babyhoodH
So God perhaps is keeping from us nowG
Life's sweetest things because it seemeth goodH
-
And if sometimes commingled with life's wineI
We find the wormwood and rebel and shrinkJ
Be sure a wiser hand than yours or mineI
Pours out the potion for our lips to drinkJ
And if some friend you love is lying lowK
Where human kisses cannot reach his faceL
Oh do not blame the loving Father soK
But wear your sorrow with obedient graceL
-
And you shall shortly know that lengthened breathM
Is not the sweetest gift God sends His friendsN
And that sometimes the sable pull of deathM
Conceals the fairest boon His love can sendO
If we could push ajar the gates of lifeP
And stand within and all God's workings seeF
We could interpret all this doubt and strifeP
And for each mystery could find a keyF
-
But not today Then be content poor heartQ
God's plans like lilies pure and white unfoldR
We must not tear the close shut leaves apartQ
Time will reveal the chalices of goldR
And if through patient toil we reach the landS
Where tired feet with sandals loosed may restT
When we shall clearly see and understandS
I think we will say God knew the bestT
