Wages Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDEDCE

Sometimes the spirit that never leaves me quiteA
Taps at my heart when thou art in the wayB
Saying Now thy Queen cometh therefore prayB
Lest she should see thee vile and at the sightA
Shiver and fly back piteous to the lightA
That wanes when she is absent Then as I mayB
I wash my soil d hands and muttering sayB
Lord make me clean robe Thou me in Thy whiteA
-
So for a brief space clad in ecstasyC
Pure disembodied I fall to kiss thy feetD
And sense thy glory throbbing round aboutE
Whereafter rising I hold thee in a sweetD
And gentle converse that lifts me up to beC
When thou art gone strange to the gross world's routE
