Oh call us not silentA
The throng of the deadB
Though in visible beingC
No longer we treadB
The pathways of earthD
From the grave and the skyE
From the halls of the PastF
And the star host on highE
We speak to the spiritG
In language divineH
List Mortal our songI
Ere its burden be thineH
-
Our labor is finishedJ
Our race it is runK
The guerdon eternalL
Is lost or is wonK
A beautiful giftM
Is the life thou dost shareN
Bewail not its sorrowO
Despise not its careN
The rainbow of HopeP
Spans the ocean of TimeQ
High triumph and holyR
Makes conflict sublimeQ
-
Work ever Life's momentsS
Are fleeting and briefT
Behind is the burdenK
Before the reliefT
Work nobly the deedU
Liveth bright in the PastF
When the spirit that plannedV
Is at rest from the blastF
Work nobly the InfiniteG
Spreads to thy sightW
The higher thou soarestW
The stronger thy flightW
-
And when from thy visionK
Loved faces shall waneX
And thy heart strings thrill wildlyR
With anguish and painX
The voices that nowY
Are as faint as the toneZ
Of the Zephyr that stirs notW
The rose on its throneZ
Shall burst on thy soulA2
An orchestra divineH
With seraph and cherubB2
From Deity's shrineH
