The Deepest Dream Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECDE

The deepest dream is of mad governorsA
Down down we feel it till the very crustB
Of the world cracks and where there was no dustB
Atoms of ruin rise Confusion stirsA
And fear and all our thoughts dark scavengersA
Feed on the center's refuse Hope is thrustB
Like wind away and love sinks into lustB
For merest safety meanest of levelersA
-
And then we wake Or do we Sleep enduresC
More than the morning can when shadows lieD
Sharper than mountains and the cleft is realE
Between us and our kings What sun assuresC
Our courage and what evening by and byD
Descends to rest us and perhaps to healE
