When It Is Finished Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEC FGFGHHIJ

WHEN it is finished Father and we setA
The war stained buckler and the bright blade byB
Bid us remember then what bloody sweatA
What thorns what agonyC
Purchased our wreaths of harvest and ripe earsD
Whose empty hands whose empty hearts whose tearsE
Ransomed the days to beC
-
We leave them to Thee Father we've no priceF
No utmost treasure of the seas and landsG
No words no deeds to pay their sacrificeF
Only while England standsG
Their pearl their pride their altar not their graveH
Bid us remember in what days they gaveH
All that mankind may giveI
That we might liveJ
