Mary Tired Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDEEDAA FFGGHHI JJKKLLMMNN

Through the starred Judean nightA
She went in travail of the LightA
With the earliest hush she sawB
God beside her in the strawB
-
One poor taper glimmered clearC
Drowsing Joseph nodded nearC
All the glooms were rosed with wingsD
She that knew the Spirit's kissE
Wearied of the bright abyssE
She was tired of heavenly thingsD
There between the day and nightA
These she counted for delightA
-
Baby kids that butted hardF
In the shadowy stable yardF
Silken doves that dipped and preenedG
Where the crumbling well curb greenedG
Sparrows in the vine and smallH
Sapphired flies upon the wallH
So lovely they seemed musicalI
-
In the roof a swift had builtJ
All the new born airs were spiltJ
Out of cups the morning madeK
Of a glory and a shadeK
These her solemn eyelids feltL
While unseen the seraphs kneltL
Then a young mouse sleek and boldM
Rustling in the winnowed goldM
To her shadow crept and curledN
Near the Ransom of the WorldN
