Dedication Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDEDEFFGGHIIH JKLLMNMONO

LORD on this paper whiteA
My soul would writeA
Tales that were heard of oldB
Of perilous things and boldB
Kings as young lions for prideC
Lost cities where they diedC
Last in the gate the cryD
That told some Eastern throngE
A prophet was gone byD
The song of swords the songE
Of beautiful fierce lordsF
Gone down among the swordsF
The traffick and the breathG
Of nations spilled in deathG
The glory and the gleamH
Of a whole ageI
Snared in a golden pageI
Such is my dreamH
-
Yet thanks if yet You giveJ
The crumbs by which I liveK
Blown shreds of beauty brokenL
Words half unspokenL
So faint so falteringM
They may not truly showN
The blue on a crow's wingM
The berry of a brierO
Cupped in new snowN
As though the snow lit fireO
