A Child-s Song Of Christmas Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGDD HHBB

MY counterpane is soft as silkA
My blankets white as creamy milkA
The hay was soft to Him I knowB
Our little Lord of long agoB
-
Above the roof the pigeons flyC
In silver wheels across the skyC
The stable doves they cooed to themD
Mary and Christ in BethlehemD
-
Bright shines the sun across the driftsE
And bright upon my Christmas giftsE
They brought Him incense myrrh and goldF
Our little Lord who lived of oldF
-
O soft and clear our mother singsG
Of Christmas joys and Christmas thingsG
God's holy angels sang to themD
Mary and Christ in BethlehemD
-
Our hearts they hold all Christmas dearH
And earth seems sweet and heaven seems nearH
O heaven was in His sight I knowB
That little Child of long agoB
