What Makes The Summer? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADBCD AEFADEFD GHIDHID

It is not the lark's clear toneA
Cleaving the morning air with a soaring cryB
Nor the nightingale's dulcet melody all the balmy nightC
Not these aloneA
Make the sweet sounds of summerD
But the drone of beetle and bee the murmurous hum of the flyB
And the chirp of the cricket hidden out of sightC
These help to make the summerD
-
Not roses redly blownA
Nor golden lilies lighting the dusky meadsE
Nor proud imperial pansies nor queen cups quaint and rareF
Not these aloneA
Make the sweet sights of summerD
But the countless forest leaves the myriad wayside weedsE
And slender grasses springing up everywhereF
These help to make the summerD
-
One heaven bends aboveG
The lowliest head ofttimes has sweetest restH
O'er song bird in the pine and bee in the ivy lowI
Is the same love it is all God's summerD
Well pleased is He if we patiently do our bestH
So hum little bee and low green grasses growI
You help to make the summerD
