Farewell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHFHIEAE JKFKLEFE

Lift up your brown eyes darlingA
Not timidly and shyB
As in the fair lost past not thusC
I'd have you meet my eyeB
But grave and calm and earnestD
Thus bravely should we partE
Not sorrowfully not lightlyF
And so farewell dear heartE
-
Yes fare thee well farewellG
Whate'er shall me betideH
May gentlest angels comfort theeF
And peace with thee abideH
Our love was but a stormy loveI
'Tis your will we should partE
So smile upon me once darlingA
And then farewell dear heartE
-
But lay your hand once on my browJ
Set like a saintly crownK
It will shield me it will help meF
To hurl temptations downK
God give thee better love than mineL
Nay dear no tears must startE
See I am quiet thou must beF
And now farewell dear heartE
