A Grave Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFAGDHAIIJKLMFNJ OPQRSTUVKHTWXUT

Man looking into the seaA
taking the view from those who have as much right to it asB
you have to it yourselfC
it is human nature to stand in the middle of a thingD
but you cannot stand in the middle of thisE
the sea has nothing to give but a well excavated graveF
The firs stand in a procession each with an emerald turkeyA
foot at the topG
reserved as their contours saying nothingD
repression however is not the most obvious characteristic ofH
the seaA
the sea is a collector quick to return a rapacious lookI
There are others besides you who have worn that lookI
whose expression is no longer a protest the fish no longerJ
investigate themK
for their bones have not lastedL
men lower nets unconscious of the fact that they areM
desecrating a graveF
and row quickly away the blades of the oarsN
moving together like the feet of water spiders as if there wereJ
no such thing as deathO
The wrinkles progress among themselves in a phalanxP
beautiful under networks of foamQ
and fade breathlessly while the sea rustles in and out of theR
seaweedS
the birds swim through the air at top speed emitting cat callsT
as heretoforeU
the tortoise shell scourges about the feet of the cliffs in motionV
beneath themK
and the ocean under the pulsation of lighthouses and noise ofH
bell bouysT
advances as usual looking as if it were not that ocean in whichW
dropped things are bound to sinkX
in which if they turn and twist it is neither with volition norU
consciousnessT
