The Mystery Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB AB A A CA CA DE DE D

This is your cup the cup assigned to youA
From the beginning Yea my child I knowB
-
How much of that dark drink is your own brewA
Of fault and passion Ages long agoB
-
In the deep years of yesterday I knewA
-
This is your road a painful road and drearA
-
I made the stones that never give you restC
I set your friend in pleasant ways and clearA
-
And he shall come like you unto my breastC
But you my weary child must travel hereA
-
This is your work It has no fame no graceD
But is not meant for any other handE
-
And in my universe hath measured placeD
Take it I do not bid you understandE
-
I bid you close your eyes to see my faceD
