The Demeter Of Praxiteles Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEDD

Demeter 'Tis a name For in thy faceA
A myriad women find their mourning placeA
Thou sitting lonely on the wayside stoneB
O pagan mother thou art not aloneB
-
Though Hellas now thy grief so calmly wornC
Yet art thou Egypt reft of thy first bornC
And now lamenting Rama that fair headD
With ashes strewn and all uncomfortedD
-
And Mary thou and many women moreE
This very day I see thee at my doorE
Thine was the voice an hour ago that criedD
From the next house wherein a child has diedD
