Not This World Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCCDD EEFFFDD GGHHHDD IIJJJDD

Shall I not give this world my heart and wellA
If for naught else for many a miracleB
Of the impassioned spring the rose the snowC
Nay by the spring that still must come and goC
When thou art dust by roses that shall blowC
Across thy grave and snows it shall not missD
Not this world oh not thisD
-
Shall I not give this world my heart who findE
Within this world the glories of the mindE
That wondrous mind that mounts from earth to GodF
Nay hy the little footways it hath trodF
And smiUs to see when thou art under sodF
And by its very gaze across the ahyssD
Not this world oh not thisD
-
Shall I not give this world my heart who holdG
One figure here above myself my goldG
My life and hope my joy and my intentH
Nay by that form whose strength so soon is spentH
That fragile garment that shall soon he rentH
By lips and eyes the heavy earth shall kissD
Not this world oh not thisD
-
Then this poor world shall not my heart disdainI
Where beauty mocks and springtime comes in vainI
And love grows mute and wisdom is forgotJ
Thou child and thankless On this little spotJ
Thy heart hath fed and shall despise it notJ
Yea shall forget through many a world of hlissD
Not this world oh not thisD
