Lost Youth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDF GHGH

For a friend who mourns its passingA
-
He took the earth as earth had been his throneB
And beauty as the red rose for his eyeC
Give me the moon he said for mine aloneB
Or I will reach and pluck it from the skyC
-
And thou Life dost mourn him for the dayD
Has darkened since the gallant youngling wentE
And smaller seems thy dwelling place of clayD
Since he has left that valley tenementF
-
But oh perchance beyond some utmost gateG
While at the gate thy stranger feet do standH
He shall approach thee beautiful elateG
Crowned with his moon the red rose in his handH
