From Sudden Death. . . Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEECC FFGGCC

Roses about my way and roses stillA
I must pick and have my very fillA
Red for my heart and white upon my hairB
And still I shall have roses and to spareB
My child I save thee thorns Dear little friendC
This is the endC
-
So long the road so lone the road and grayD
My bleeding feet must travel many a dayD
With not an inn where I may stop and restE
With not a roof that claims me for its guestE
Hush the road vanishes Yes yes poor friendC
This is the endC
-
O Lord let thou thy servant go in peaceF
Now I have rounded out life's perfect leaseF
Spare me the clouded brain the dark'ning eyeG
Nor let me be a burden ere I dieG
Thou shalt not he Nay even now old friendC
This is the endC
