Autumn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDBBD| Tainted with death Ah then the taint is sweet | A |
| As if God took the essences of life | B |
| And burned them in a brazier at his feet | A |
| The smoke of them ascending rich and rife | B |
| To please his nostrils What if man be loath | C |
| To your deep bosom and would have the Spring | D |
| His bride forever He who made you both | C |
| Knoweth your beauty for as fair a thing | D |
| Like that of one who long hath been a wife | B |
| And mothered men As piercing as a knife | B |
| And rich beyond all mortal imaging | D |
