A Boy's Virgil Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGHGHIIJJDD| Dust on the page from these forgetful years | A |
| I brush it off to see the fading date | B |
| Written in boyish hand to find through tears | C |
| The lad's dear name inscribed with all the state | B |
| Of the first day's possession and to read | D |
| Along the tell tale margin scribbled thick | E |
| Here is the note 'twas writ with guilty speed | F |
| And here the sketch with guilty pencil quick | E |
| And here's a picture Was she ever so | G |
| Were these her curls and this her merry look | H |
| Who lieth in her old green grave as low | G |
| As he is lying Ah this faded book | H |
| I think not of the bold and storied wrong | I |
| Done for a woman's fairness nor of strong | I |
| And god like heroes nor of beauteous youth | J |
| In game and battle but with heart of ruth | J |
| About this boy who laughed and played and read | D |
| So carelessly Ah how long he is dead | D |
