Jackson. A Sonnet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEFFED

Thank God for such a Hero Fearless holdA
His diamond character beneath the sunB
And brighter scintillations one by oneB
Come flashing from it Never knight of oldA
Wore on serener brow so calm yet boldA
Diviner courage never martyr knewC
Trust more sublime nor patriot zeal more trueC
Nor saint self abnegation of a mouldA
Touched with profounder beauty All the rareD
Clear starry points of light that gave his soulE
Such lambent lustre owned but one sole aimF
Not for himself nor yet his country's fameF
These glories shone he kept the clustered wholeE
A jewel for the crown that Christ shall wearD
