Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEF GHI JIK ILI MND OPQ RDS TSUDV

He who navigated with successA
the dangerous river of his own birthB
once more set forthC
-
on a voyage of discoveryD
into the land I floated onE
but could not touch to claimF
-
His feet slid on the bankG
the currents took himH
he swirled with ice and trees in the swollen waterI
-
and plunged into distant regionsJ
his head a bathysphereI
through his eyes' thin glass bubblesK
-
he looked out reckless adventurerI
on a landscape stranger than UranusL
we have all been to and some rememberI
-
There was an accident the air lockedM
he was hung in the river like a heartN
They retrieved the swamped bodyD
-
cairn of my plans and future chartsO
with poles and hooksP
from among the nudging logsQ
-
It was spring the sun kept shining the new grassR
leapt to solidityD
my hands glistened with detailsS
-
After the long trip I was tired of wavesT
My foot hit rock The dreamed sailsS
collapsed raggedU
I planted him in this countryD
like a flagV
