Afterwards Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCDDEFGGFHH| There was a day when death to me meant tears | A |
| And tearful takings leave that had to be | B |
| And awed embarkings on an unshored sea | B |
| And sudden disarrangement of the years | C |
| But now I know that nothing interferes | C |
| With the fixed forces when a tired man dies | D |
| That death is only answerings and replies | D |
| The chiming of a bell which no one hears | E |
| The casual slanting of a half spent sun | F |
| The soft recessional of noise and coil | G |
| The coveted something time nor age can spoil | G |
| I know it is a fabric finely spun | F |
| Between the stars and dark to seize and keep | H |
| Such glad romances as we read in sleep | H |
