Afterwards Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCDDEFGGFHH

There was a day when death to me meant tearsA
And tearful takings leave that had to beB
And awed embarkings on an unshored seaB
And sudden disarrangement of the yearsC
But now I know that nothing interferesC
With the fixed forces when a tired man diesD
That death is only answerings and repliesD
The chiming of a bell which no one hearsE
The casual slanting of a half spent sunF
The soft recessional of noise and coilG
The coveted something time nor age can spoilG
I know it is a fabric finely spunF
Between the stars and dark to seize and keepH
Such glad romances as we read in sleepH
