Woman's Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CCD DDC EFEG HIJ JJI

Sweet lies the sweetest ever heardA
To her he saidB
Her heart remembers every wordA
Now he is deadB
-
I ask ' If thus his lies can makeC
Your young heart grieve for his false sakeC
Had he been true what had you doneD
For true love's sake '-
-
'Upon his grave there in the sunD
Avoided now of all but oneD
I'd lay my heart with all its acheC
And let it break and let it break '-
-
And falsehood fairer ne'er was seenE
Than he put onF
Her heart recalls each look and mienE
Now he is goneG
-
I ask 'If thus his treacheryH
Can hold your heart with lie on lieI
What had you done for manly loveJ
Love without lie '-
-
'There in the grass that grows aboveJ
His grave where all could know thereofJ
I'd lay me down without a sighI
And gladly die and gladly die '-
