Unrequited Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH

Passion not hers who held me with pure eyesA
One hand among the deep curls of her browB
I drank the girlhood of her gaze with sighsA
She never sighed nor gave me kiss or vowB
-
So have I seen a clear October poolC
Cold liquid topaz set within the sereD
Gold of the woodland tremorless and coolC
Reflecting all the heartbreak of the yearD
-
Sweetheart not she whose voice was music sweetE
Whose face loaned language to melodious prayerF
Sweetheart I called her When did she repeatE
Sweet to one hope or heart to one despairF
-
So have I seen a wildflower's fragrant headG
Sung to and sung to by a longing birdH
And at the last albeit the bird lay deadG
No blossom wilted for it had not heardH
