To A Critic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBBBBCDDCDCSong hath a catalogue of lovely things | A |
Thy kind hath oft defiled whose spite misleads | B |
The world too often where the poet reads | B |
As in a fable of old envyings | B |
Crows such as thou which hush the bird that sings | B |
Or kill it with their cawings thorns and weeds | B |
Such as thyself 'midst which the wind sows seeds | B |
Of flow'rs these crush before one blossom swings | B |
But here and there the wisdom of a School | C |
Unknown to these hath often written down | D |
Fame in white ink the future hath turned brown | D |
When every beauty heaped with ridicule | C |
In their ignoble prose proved their renown | D |
Making each famous as an ass or fool | C |
