To A Critic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBBBBCDDCDC

Song hath a catalogue of lovely thingsA
Thy kind hath oft defiled whose spite misleadsB
The world too often where the poet readsB
As in a fable of old envyingsB
Crows such as thou which hush the bird that singsB
Or kill it with their cawings thorns and weedsB
Such as thyself 'midst which the wind sows seedsB
Of flow'rs these crush before one blossom swingsB
But here and there the wisdom of a SchoolC
Unknown to these hath often written downD
Fame in white ink the future hath turned brownD
When every beauty heaped with ridiculeC
In their ignoble prose proved their renownD
Making each famous as an ass or foolC
