The Wood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK LMLN

Witch hazel dogwood and the maple hereA
And there the oak and hickoryB
Linn poplar and the beech tree far and nearC
As the eased eye can seeB
-
Wild ginger wahoo with its wan balloonsD
And brakes of briers of a twilight greenE
And fox grapes plumed with summer and strung moonsD
Of mandrake flowers betweenE
-
Deep gold green ferns and mosses red and grayF
Mats for what naked myth's white feetG
And cool and calm a cascade far awayF
With even falling beatG
-
Old logs made sweet with death rough bits of barkH
And tangled twig and knotted rootI
And sunshine splashes and great pools of darkH
And many a wild bird's fluteI
-
Here let me sit until the Indian DuskJ
With copper colored feet comes downK
Sowing the wildwood with star fire and muskJ
And shadows blue and brownK
-
Then side by side with some magician dreamL
To take the owlet haunted laneM
Half roofed with vines led by a firefly gleamL
That brings me home againN
