The Water-maid Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCDDCCEDEDFFEGECC GHH

There she rose as white as deathA
Stars above and stars beneathB
Where the ripples brake in splendorC
To a million million starletsD
Twinkling on lake lilies tenderC
Rocking to the ripple barletsD
She brow belted with white liliesD
Rose and oared a shining shoulderC
To a downward purpling boulderC
With slim fingers soft and milkyE
Haled her from the spray sprent liliesD
To a ledge and sitting silkyE
Sang unto the list'ning liliesD
Sang and sang beneath the heavenF
Belted wreathed with lilies sevenF
Falsely sang a wild wild dittyE
To a wool white moonG
Till a child both frail and prettyE
Found her singing on the boulderC
Dark locks on a milky shoulderC
'Neath the wool white moonG
And the creature singing thereH
Strangled him in her long hairH
