The Troubadour Of Trebizend Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAAAAAAAAAABBBCCDAA AEEEFFFGGGHHHAAAAAAI IIJJKAAALMM

NIGHT they say is no man's friendA
And at night he met his endA
In the woods of TrebizendA
Hate crouched near him as he strodeA
Through the blackness of the roadA
Where my Lord seemed some huge toadA
Eyes of murder glared and burnedA
At each bend of road he turnedA
And where wild the torrent churnedA
And with Death we stood and staredA
From the bush as by he faredA
But he never looked or caredA
He went singing and a roseB
Lay upon his heart's reposeB
With what thought of her who knowsB
He had done no other wrongC
Save to sing a simple songC
'I have loved you loved you long 'D
And my lady smiled and sighedA
Gave a rose and looked moist eyedA
And forgot she was a brideA
My sweet lady Jehan de GraceE
With the pale Madonna faceE
He had brought to his embraceE
And my Lord saw gave commandsF
I was of his bandit bandsF
Love should perish at our handsF
Young the Knight was He should singG
Nevermore of love or springG
Or of any gentle thingG
When he stole at midnight's hourH
To my Lady's forest bowerH
We were hidden near the towerH
In the woods of TrebizendA
There he met an evil endA
Night you know is no man's friendA
He has fought in fort and fieldA
Borne for years a stainless shieldA
And in strength to none would yieldA
But we seized him unawareI
Bound and hung him stripped him bareI
Left him to the wild boars thereI
Never has my Lady knownJ
But she often sits aloneJ
Weeping when my Lord is goneK
Night they say is no man's friendA
In the woods of TrebizendA
There he met an evil endA
Now my old Lord sleeps in peaceL
While my Lady each one seesM
Waits and keeps her memoriesM
