The Troglodyte Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCBCCABAB DDDEEEFGFG

In ages dead a troglodyteA
At the hollow roots of a monster heightA
That grew from the heart of the world to lightA
I dwelt in caverns over meB
Were mountains older than the moonC
And forests vaster than the seaB
And gulfs that the earthquake's hand had hewnC
Hung under me And late and soonC
I heard the d mon of change that sighedA
A cosmic language of mysteryB
While life sat silent primeval eyedA
With the infant spirit of prophecyB
-
Gaunt stars glared down on the Titan peaksD
And the gaunter glare of the cratered streaksD
Of the sunset's ruin heard condor shrieksD
The roar of cataracts hurled in airE
And the hurricane laying his thunders bareE
And rush of battling beasts whose lairE
Was the antechamber of nadir gloomF
Were my outworld joys But who shall tellG
The awe of the depths that heard the boomF
Of the iron rivers that fashioned HellG
