The Torrent Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACAACDCEDCE

Here is a tale for workmen and their mastersA
There was a torrent once that down a mountainB
Flashed its resistless way a foaming fountainB
Basaltic built 'twixt cataract hewn pilastersA
Down from its eagle eyrie nearer nearerC
Its savage beauty born mid rocks and cedarsA
Swept free as tempest wild as mountain leadersA
Of stars and storms the swiftly moving mirrorC
Men found it out and set to work to tame itD
Put it to pounding rock and rafting lumberC
Made it a carrier of the filth of citiesE
Harnessed its joy to engines tried to shame itD
Saying ' Be civilized ' and piled their cumberC
Upon it bound it God of all the PitiesE
