The Sleeper Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDF GHFH IHIH JKJK LMLM

She sleeps and dreams one milk white lawny armA
Pillowing her heavy hair as might cold NightB
Meeting her sister Day with glory warmC
Subside in languor on her bosom's whiteB
-
The naked other on the damask clothD
White smooth and light as the light thistle downE
Or the pink fairy fluffy evening mothD
On June drunk beds of roses red lies thrownF
-
And one sweet cheek kissed with the enamored moonG
Grown pale with anger at the libertyH
While dusk in darkness at the favor shownF
The pouting other frowns still envityH
-
Hangs fall'n in folds the rich dark coveringI
With fretfulness thrust partly from her breastH
As through storm broken clouds the moon might springI
From this the orb of one pure bosom prestH
-
She sleeps and where the silent moonbeams sinkJ
Thro' diamond panes soft as a ghost of snowK
In wide white jets the lion fur seems to drinkJ
With tawny jaws its wasted winey glowK
-
Light lidded sleep and holy dreams to herL
Unborn of feverish sorrow or of careM
Soft as the gust that makes the arras stirL
Tangling gold moonbeams in her fragrant hairM
