Rhyme Scheme: AA BB CD EE FF GG HH II JJ KK LM NN

He waited till within her towerA
Her taper signalled him the hourA
-
He was a prince both fair and braveB
What hope that he would love her slaveB
-
He of the Persian dynastyC
And she a Queen of ArabyD
-
No Peri singing to a starE
Upon the sea were lovelierE
-
I helped her dropp the silken ropeF
He clomb aflame with love and hopeF
-
I drew the dagger from my gownG
And cut the ladder leaning downG
-
Oh wild his face and wild the fallH
Her cry was wilder than them allH
-
I heard her cry I heard him moanI
And stood as merciless as stoneI
-
The eunuchs came fierce scimitarsJ
Stirred in the torch lit corridorsJ
-
She spoke like one who speaks in sleepK
And bade me strike or she would leapK
-
I bade her leap the time was shortL
And kept the dagger for my heartM
-
She leapt I put their blades asideN
And smiling in their faces diedN
