The Scarecrow Ii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDBEEB FFGHHG IIJKLJ MMNOPN QQRSS TTDUUD

More than cakes or anythingA
I like tales of shiveringA
Once a scarecrow on a hillB
Tossed his ragged arms at meC
That was when I went to seeC
Folks that live at FishervilleB
-
And my father said 'You knowD
When it's dark that old scarecrowD
Gets down rags and sticks and allB
And like some old tramp he goesE
Straw wisps sticking from his toesE
Down the road right past this wallB
-
'Wobble legged and loose of armF
Slow he shambles by the farmF
And if children are not goodG
Snug in bed at eight o'clockH
On the window he will knockH
With long knuckled hands of woodG
-
'Then his empty face pressed flatI
To the pane his tattered hatI
Flopping in the wind he'll shakeJ
His gaunt finger at them andK
Threaten them with head and handL
And with teeth too like a rakeJ
-
'Then into the night he'll packM
There to meet with bogie JackM
Jack o' Lantern and the twoN
Arm in arm will wander onO
Scaring folks until it's dawnP
As all goblin people doN
-
'You may see them through the paneQ
Passing in the night and rainQ
When you hear the watch dogs barkR
Then along the weedy sideS
Of some garden dim they glideS
Where they grab you in the dark '-
-
Sometime when I can for funT
I am going to take my gunT
Creep up on that hill and blowD
That old scarecrow into bitsU
Then he can't scare into fitsU
Any children more I knowD
