The Purple Valleys Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCACCD CCCEFFC CGHFDIJ FCFKCAL DCACFEL

Far in the purple valleys of illusionA
I see her waiting like the soul of musicB
With deep eyes lovelier than cerulean pansiesC
Shadow and fire yet merciless as poisonA
With red lips sweeter than Arabian storaxC
Yet bitterer than myrrh O tears and kissesC
O eyes and lips that haunt my soul foreverD
-
Again Spring walks transcendent on the mountainsC
The woods are hushed the vales are blue with shadowsC
Above the heights steeped in a thousand splendorsC
Like some vast canvas of the gods hangs burningE
The sunset's wild sciography and slowlyF
The moon treads heaven's proscenium night's statelyF
White queen of love and tragedy and madnessC
-
Again I know forgotten dreams and longingsC
Ideals lost desires dead and buriedG
Beside the altar sacrifice erectedH
Within the heart's high sanctuary StrangelyF
Again I know the horror and the raptureD
The utterless awe the joy akin to anguishI
The terror and the worship of the spiritJ
-
Again I feel her eyes pierce through and through meF
Her deep eyes lovelier than imperial pansiesC
Velvet and flame through which her fierce will holds meF
Powerless and tame and draws me on and onwardK
To sad unsatisfied and animal yearningsC
Wild unrestrained the brute within the humanA
To fling me panting on her mouth and bosomL
-
Again I feel her lips like ice and fireD
Her red lips odorous as Arabian storaxC
Fragrance and fire within whose kiss destructionA
Lies serpent like Intoxicating languorsC
Resistlessly embrace me soul and bodyF
And we go drifting drifting she is laughingE
Outcasts of God into the deep's abysmL
