The Ploughboy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBAB CACAACA DEDEEDE

A lilac mist maizes warm the hillsA
And silvery through it threads a streamB
The redbird's cadence throbs and thrillsA
The jaybirds screamB
The bluets' stars begin to gleamB
And 'mid them whispering with the rillsA
The morning hours dreamB
-
The ploughboy Spring drives out his ploughC
A robin's whistle on his lipsA
And as he goes with lifted browC
And snaps and whipsA
His lash of wind a sunbeam tipsA
The wildflowers laugh and on the boughC
The blossom skipsA
-
The scent of winter mellowed loamD
And greenwood buds is blown from himE
As blithe he takes his young way homeD
Large strong of limbE
Along the hilltop's sunset brimE
Whistling the first star white as foamD
In his hat's blue rimE
