When dusk falls cool as a rained on rose | B |
And a tawny tower the twilight shows | B |
With the crescent moon the silver moon the curved | C |
new moon in a space that glows | B |
A turret window that grows alight | D |
There is a path that my Fancy knows | B |
A glimmering shimmering path of night | D |
That far as the Land of Faery goes | B |

And I follow the path as Fancy leads | E |
Over the mountains into the meads | E |
Where the firefly cities the glowworm cities the faery | F |
cities are strung like beads | E |
Each city a twinkling star | F |
And I live a life of valorous deeds | E |
And march with the Faery King to war | F |
And ride with his knights on milk white steeds | E |

Or it's there in the whirl of their life I sit | G |
Or dance in their houses with starlight lit | G |
Their blossom houses their flower houses their elfin | H |
houses of fern leaves knit | G |
With fronded spires and domes | I |
And there it is that my lost dreams flit | G |
And the ghost of my childhood smiling roams | I |
With the faery children so dear to it | G |

And it's there I hear that they all come true | F |
The faery stories whatever they do | F |
Elf and goblin dear elf and goblin loved elf and goblin | H |
and all the crew | F |
Of witch and wizard and gnome and fay | - |
And prince and princess that wander through | F |
The storybooks we have put away | - |
The faerytales that we loved and knew | F |

The face of Adventure lures you there | F |
And the eyes of Danger bid you dare | F |
While ever the bugles the silver bugles the far off | - |
bugles of Elfland blare | F |
The faery trumpets to battle blow | J |
And you feel their thrill in your heart and hair | F |
And you fain would follow and mount and go | J |
And march with the Faeries anywhere | F |

And she she rides at your side again | K |
Your little sweetheart whose age is ten | K |
She is the princess the faery princess the princess fair | F |
that you worshiped when | K |
You were a prince in a faerytale | J |
And you do great deeds as you did them then | K |
With your magic spear and enchanted mail | J |
Braving the dragon in his den | K |

And you ask again 'Oh where shall we ride | L |
Now that the monster is slain my bride ' | - |
'Back to the cities the firefly cities the glowworm | M |
cities where we can hide | L |
The beautiful cities of Faeryland | L |
And the light of my eyes shall be your guide | L |
The light of my eyes and my snow white hand | L |
And there forever we two will abide ' | - |
