The Moon In The Wood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAACACADEFGFH I JAJAJKAKAKLMLML I ANANAOPOPOAAAAA

From hill and hollow side by sideA
The shadows came like dreams to sitB
And watch mysterious sunset eyedA
The wool winged moths and bats aflitA
And the lone owl that cried and criedA
And then the forest rang a gongC
Hoarse toadlike and from out the gateA
Of darkness came a sound of songC
As of a gnome that called his mateA
Who answered in his own strange tongueD
And all the forest leaned to hearE
And saw from forth the entangling treesF
A naked spirit drawing nearG
A glimmering presence whom the breezeF
Kept whispering 'Forward Have no fear 'H

The woodland seeming at a lossJ
Afraid to breathe or make a soundA
Poured where her silvery feet should crossJ
A dripping pathway on the groundA
And hedged it in with ferns and mossJ
And then the silence sharply shookK
A cricket tambourine and NightA
From out her musky bosom tookK
A whippoorwill flute and lost to sightA
Sat piping to a wildwood brookK
Until from out the shadows cameL
A furtive foot a gleam a glowM
And with a lamp of crystal flameL
The spirit stole as white as snowM
And put the firmament to shameL

Then up and down vague movements wentA
As if the faeries sought an herbN
And here and there a bush was bentA
A wildflower raised the wood pool's curbN
Was circled with a scarf of scentA
And deep within her house of weedsO
Old Mystery hung a glowworm lampP
And decked her hair with firefly beadsO
And sate herself 'mid dew and dampP
And crooned a love song to the reedsO
Then through the gates of solitudeA
Where Witchery her shuttle pliedA
The Spirit entered white and nudeA
And where she went on every sideA
Dreams followed through the solitudeA
