The Miser Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

Withered and gray as winter gnarled and oldA
With bony hands he crouches by the coalsB
His beggar's coat is patched and worn in holesB
Rags are his shoes clutched in his claw like holdA
A chest he hugs wherein he hoards his goldA
Far heard a bell of midnight slowly tollsB
The bleak blasts shake his hut like wailing soulsB
And door and window chatter with the coldA
Nor sleet nor snow he heeds nor storm nor nightC
Let the wind howl and let the palsy twitchD
His rheum racked limbs here 's that will make them glowE
And warm his heart here 's comfort joy and lightC
How the gold glistens Rich he is how richD
Only the death that knocks outside shall knowE
