The Lost Dream Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFGHIHIJKJK KKKKKGKG

THE black night showed its hungry teethA
And gnawed with sleet at roof and paneB
Beneath the door I heard it breatheC
A beast that growled in vainB
The hunter wind stalked up and downD
And crashed his ice spears through each treeE
Before his rage in tattered gownD
I saw the maid moon fleeE
There stole a footstep to my doorF
A voice cried in my room and thereG
A shadow cowled and gaunt and hoarF
Death leaned above my chairG
He beckoned me he bade me riseH
And follow through the madman nightI
Into my heart's core pierced his eyesH
And lifted me with mightI
I rose I made no more delayJ
And followed where his eyes compelledK
And through the darkness far awayJ
They lit me and enspelledK
Until we reached an ancient woodK
That flung its twisted arms aroundK
As if in anguish that it stoodK
On dark unhallowed groundK
And then I saw it cold and blindK
The dream that had my heart to shareG
That fell before its feet could findK
Its home and perished thereG
