The Heart's Own Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABA CDCDC EFGFG HIHIH JKJKJ LMLML NONON POQOOQ

This is the heart's own dayA
With dreaming eyesB
Life seems to look awayA
Beyond the skiesB
Into some long gone MayA
-
A May that can not dieC
Across whose hillsD
Youth's heart goes singing byC
'Mid daffodilsD
With Love the young and shyC
-
Love of the slender formE
And elvish faceF
Who with uplifted armG
Points to one placeF
A place of oldtime charmG
-
Where once the lilies grewH
For Love to twineI
With violets white and blueH
And columbineI
Of gold and crimson hueH
-
Gone is the long agoJ
Gone like the windK
And Love we used to knowJ
Sits dumb and blindK
With locks of winter snowJ
-
And by him MemoryL
Sits sketching backM
Into the used to beL
In white and blackM
One flower on his kneeL
-
One rose whose crimson gleamsN
Like Youth's glad heartO
And fills the day with dreamsN
And is a partO
Of the old love it seemsN
-
That touches with the tintsP
Of FaerylandO
This day and makes a princeQ
Of SamarcandO
Of him whose handO
Hers held in dreams long sinceQ
