The Faun Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABC DEDEE FGFGG GHGII CJCJ KLKLL GGGGG

The joys that touched thee once be mineA
The sympathies of sky and seaB
The friendships of each rock and pineA
That made thy lonely life ah meB
In Tempe or in GargaphieC
-
Such joy as thou didst feel when firstD
On some wild crag thou stood'st aloneE
To watch the mountain tempest burstD
With streaming thunder lightning sownE
On Latmos or on PelionE
-
Thy awe when crowned with vastness NightF
And Silence ruled the deep's abyssG
And through dark leaves thou saw'st the whiteF
Breasts of the starry maids who kissG
Pale feet of moony ArtemisG
-
Thy dreams when breasting matted weedsG
Of Arethusa thou didst hearH
The music of the wind swept reedsG
And down dim forest ways drew nearI
Shy herds of slim Arcadian deerI
-
Thy wisdom that knew naught but loveC
And beauty with which love is fraughtJ
The wisdom of the heart whereofC
All noblest passions spring that thoughtJ
As Nature thinks 'All else is naught '-
-
Thy hope wherein To morrow setK
No shadow hope that lacking careL
And retrospect held no regretK
But bloomed in rainbows everywhereL
Filling with gladness all the airL
-
These were thine all in all life's moodsG
Embracing all of happinessG
And when within thy long loved woodsG
Didst lay thee down to die no lessG
Thy happiness stood by to blessG
