The Father Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGGHH

There is a hall in every houseA
Behind whose wainscot gnaws the mouseA
Along whose sides are empty roomsB
Peopled with dreams and ancient doomsB
When down this hall you take your lightC
And face alone the hollow nightC
Be like the child who goes to bedD
Though faltering and half adreadD
Of something crouching crookedlyE
In every corner he can seeF
Ready to snatch him into gloomG
Yet goes on bravely to his roomG
Knowing above him watching thereH
His father waits upon the stairH
